Week # 5: Speech Critque

Objectives:

  • Create a research paper on an agricultural topic and present to a live audience.
    • Critique a manuscript for errors and inconsistencies.
  • Understand the major components of leadership involved in successful employment.
    • Contrast the habits of successful people.

Learning Activities:

Make appropriate changes to your speech manuscript. Send your speech via email to two other colleagues enrolled in this class to edit and look for errors. Have one person use Critique 1 and the other person use Critique 2.

Are you aware that you can use MS Word to track changes in your work? This web site tells you how to do it. Of course you can always go to the Help feature in Word and search for "Track Changes". I suggest you turn the track changes button on when you review someone's paper so they can see how you would make it better!

Skype is an easy-to-use, free video conferencing program. See a new story about Skype and then go to the Skype web site if you want to learn more or want to download it. If you want to have a video conference with a GOAL classmate, just set up a time and communicate!

Eastern Kentucky University has a some good recommendations for writing effectively.

Even though you do not have everything perfected yet -practice delivering your speech to a small group of people.
