Week # 10: Teaching and PowerPoint Technology

Objectives:

  • Analyze factors to consider in determining what to teach
    • Develop a complete lesson plan

Learning Activities:

Welcome to the second nine weeks of the GOAL course speech.

View the PowerPoint created by NCSU professor Dr. Jim Flowers on creating lesson plans.

This sample lesson plan may help you create your own.

This PowerPoint created by Dr. Gary Moore of NC State University teaches you how to put some power in your points.

If you have a question about anything related to teaching agriculture ask an Ag teacher at the NAAE Communities of Practice! This video shows you how it works

.Microsoft has a series of lessons on how to get started using PowerPoint (if you need to review the basics, this is for you).

This website is for all educators. Lesson plans, ideas, etc. It will help you develop a crossword puzzle too.

Georgia Agriculture Education probably has the best website for agriculture educators in providing one stop curriculum resources for classroom and CDE instruction.

When I started teaching glennrosearkansasffa.org was the place to go to get powerpoints. They have a lot more powerpoints now!

Leadership Moment:

Treat a person as he is,
and he will remain as he is.
Treat him as he could be,
and he will become what he should be.

Assignments:

Extracredit Extra credit!

Select an agricultural topic and develop a complete lesson plan for that topic. This plan should include all of the parts of a lesson plan found in the PowerPoint presentation. To give you an idea of the scope of the assignment, there should be a minimum of 3 problems and concerns and corresponding problem solutions included in the lesson plan. Include instructional aids (transparency masters, PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, etc.) that you will use. In the evaluation section, describe how you will evaluate students on this lesson—quizzes, tests, projects, homework, etc. This is a major assignment and is expected to take two weeks to complete.

Worksheet 10 will guide you through this week. Be sure to complete it and turn it into your advisor.

Go to the BLOG and tell three things you plan to do before you graduate high school.
